Spam and viruses are ever-increasing security issue for anyone with an
email account. Unsolicited junk mail steals system resources and leads
to lost productivity, storage, and bandwidth. Spam can also be hostile
and contain virus and Trojan horses. In the most cases, spammers are
anonymous and they steal or use our resources and damage our systems by
sending viruses. There are many standard techniques to detect and
filter spam. However, these techniques still cannot effectively prevent
spam attacks. Thus, in this paper we propose a new approach, “eTrap”,
which is based on honeypot/honeytoken concept to fight against spam.
